OliveTin has Unauthenticated Action Termination via KillAction When Guests Must Login
CVE-2026-28790GHSA-4fqm-6fmh-82mq
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/OliveTin/OliveTin 0.0.0-20260302002902-d9804182eae4), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Summary OliveTin allows an unauthenticated guest to terminate running actions through KillAction even when authRequireGuestsToLogin: true is enabled. In the tested release (3000.10.2), guests are correctly blocked from dashboard access, but an still call the KillAction RPC directly and successfully stop a running action. This is a broken access control issue that causes unauthorized denial of service against legitimate action executions. Details The issue is caused by inconsistent authorization enforcement between dashboard access and action-control RPCs. KillAction() authenticates the caller and applies only the per-action kill ACL check: - service/internal/api/api.go:62 However, it does not enforce the guest login requirement. The guest/login gate exists separately in: - service/internal/api/api.go:474 That gate is used by dashboard-style methods, but not by KillAction. In addition, when authRequireGuestsToLogin is enabled, config sanitization disables guest view, exec, and logs…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-28790 Advisory: OliveTin has Unauthenticated Action Termination via KillAction When Guests Must Login IDs: CVE-2026-28790, GHSA-4fqm-6fmh-82mq Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-28790 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:15 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 7.5) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/OliveTin/OliveTin 0.0.0-20260302002902-d9804182eae4. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go github.com/OliveTin/OliveTin: affected < 0.0.0-20260302002902-d9804182eae4; fixed in 0.0.0-20260302002902-d9804182eae4 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go github.com/OliveTin/OliveTin: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on github.com/OliveTin/OliveTin. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-4fqm-6fmh-82mq (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-4fqm-6fmh-82mq lists affected ranges: Go github.com/OliveTin/OliveTin >=0 <0.0.0-20260302002902-d9804182eae4) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
