MCP Atlassian has SSRF via unvalidated X-Atlassian-Jira-Url / X-Atlassian-Confluence-Url headers
CVE-2026-27826GHSA-7r34-79r5-rcc9
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (mcp-atlassian 0.17.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Summary An unauthenticated attacker who can reach the mcp-atlassian HTTP endpoint can force the server process to make outbound HTTP requests to an arbitrary attacker-controlled URL by supplying two custom HTTP headers without an Authorization header. No authentication is required. The vulnerability exists in the HTTP middleware and dependency injection layer — not in any MCP tool handler - making it invisible to tool-level code analysis. In cloud deployments, this could enable theft of IAM role credentials via the instance metadata endpoint (169.254.169.254). In any HTTP deployment it enables internal network reconnaissance and injection of attacker-controlled content into LLM tool results. Details The server supports a multi-tenant HTTP authentication mode where clients supply per-request Jira/Confluence URLs via custom headers. The middleware (src/mcpatlassian/servers/main.py:436–448) extracts X-Atlassian-Jira-Url from the request and stores it in request state with no validation.…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-27826 Advisory: MCP Atlassian has SSRF via unvalidated X-Atlassian-Jira-Url / X-Atlassian-Confluence-Url headers IDs: CVE-2026-27826, GHSA-7r34-79r5-rcc9 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-27826 (revision 2, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 13:37 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 8.2) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: mcp-atlassian 0.17.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - PyPI mcp-atlassian: affected < 0.17.0; fixed in 0.17.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `python -m pip show mcp-atlassian`: prints the installed version. Run with the environment that serves production active. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on mcp-atlassian. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-7r34-79r5-rcc9 (OSV record GHSA-7r34-79r5-rcc9 lists affected ranges: PyPI mcp-atlassian >=0 <0.17.0 (fixed)) - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-7r34-79r5-rcc9 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-7r34-79r5-rcc9 lists affected ranges: PyPI mcp-atlassian >=0 <0.17.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
