Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

Spring Boot applications with Actuator can be vulnerable to an "Authentication Bypass" vulnerability when an application endpoint that requires authentication is declared under a specific path, already configured for a Health Group additional path. This issue affects Spring Boot: from 4.0 before 4.0.3, from 3.5 before 3.5.11, from 3.4 before 3.4.15. This CVE is similar but not equivalent to CVE-2026-22733, as the conditions for exploit and vulnerable versions are different.

Vendor response: Partial vendor fix; fixed versions by package: org.springframework.boot:spring-boot-starter-actuator 4.0.4, 3.5.12. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- Maven org.springframework.boot:spring-boot-starter-actuator: affected >= 3.4.0, <= 3.4.13; >= 3.5.0, < 3.5.12; >= 4.0.0-M1, < 4.0.4; fixed in 3.5.12, 4.0.4

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- Maven org.springframework.boot:spring-boot-starter-actuator: check the installed version with your package manager.

## Supported action
No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on org.springframework.boot:spring-boot-starter-actuator.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
