Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
A security vulnerability has been detected in modelscope ms-swift up to 4.2.0. This affects the function Template.savepilimage of the file swift/template/base.py of the component PIL Image Cache Key Handler. The manipulation leads to use of weak hash. An attack has to be approached locally. A high degree of complexity is needed for the attack. It is indicated that the exploitability is difficult. The exploit has been disclosed publicly and may be used. The pull request to fix this issue awaits acceptance.

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2026-10801 Advisory: ms-swift: Image Cache Hash Collision via Missing Dimension Metadata IDs: CVE-2026-10801, GHSA-prfw-69r3-wqxf Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-10801 (revision 3, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 13:46 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Low (CVSS 1.1) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor response not established. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - PyPI ms-swift: affected <= 4.2.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `python -m pip show ms-swift`: prints the installed version. Run with the environment that serves production active. ## Supported action No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on ms-swift. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-prfw-69r3-wqxf (OSV record GHSA-prfw-69r3-wqxf lists affected ranges: PyPI ms-swift >=0 <=4.2.0) - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-prfw-69r3-wqxf (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-prfw-69r3-wqxf lists affected ranges: PyPI ms-swift >=0 <=4.2.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
