Nginx UI: Backup restore follows crafted symlinks into the live Nginx configuration path before restore flags are applied

CVE-2026-107810GHSA-p8v3-89rh-jxc7

What to do

Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/0xJacky/Nginx-UI 1.9.10-0.20260728074146-a467ed652591), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Summary An authenticated user who can create and restore a backup can craft a valid backup archive that causes the restore staging process to write attacker-controlled files into the live Nginx configuration path even when both restorenginx and restorenginxui are set to false. Details The restore flow always extracts the outer archive, verifies the manifest, decrypts nginx-ui.zip and nginx.zip, and extracts both inner archives before it decides whether RestoreNginx or RestoreNginxUI should be applied. The zip extractor explicitly allows absolute symlinks when the link target is under nginx.GetConfPath() or nginx.GetModulesPath(). Later regular-file entries are then created with os.OpenFile() on the symlinked path, which follows the symlink and writes into the live path. Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2026-107810 (revision 3, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:32 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: High (CVSS 8.1)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/0xJacky/Nginx-UI 1.9.10-0.20260728074146-a467ed652591. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- Go github.com/0xJacky/Nginx-UI: affected >= 1.9.10-0.20250517140552-daee3ac7ade1, < 1.9.10-0.20260728074146-a467ed652591; fixed in 1.9.10-0.20260728074146-a467ed652591

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- Go github.com/0xJacky/Nginx-UI: check the installed version with your package manager.

## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on github.com/0xJacky/Nginx-UI.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
