CVE-2025-9039GHSA-wm7x-ww72-r77q
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/aws/amazon-ecs-agent 1.97.1), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Summary Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) is a fully managed container orchestration service that enables customers to deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications. Amazon ECS container agent provides an introspection API that provides information about the overall state of the Amazon ECS agent and the container instances. We identified CVE-2025-9039, an issue in the Amazon ECS agent. Impact Under certain conditions, this issue could allow an introspection server to be accessed off-host by another instance if the instances are in the same security group or if their security groups allow incoming connections that include the port where the server is hosted. This issue does not affect instances where the option to allow off-host access to the introspection server is set to 'false'. Impacted versions: version 0.0.3 through 1.97.0 Patches This issue has been addressed in ECS agent version 1.97.1. We recommend upgrading to the latest version and ensuring any forked or…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2025-9039 Advisory: Information Disclosure in Amazon ECS Container Agent IDs: CVE-2025-9039, GHSA-wm7x-ww72-r77q Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2025-9039 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:10 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 5.3) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/aws/amazon-ecs-agent 1.97.1. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go github.com/aws/amazon-ecs-agent: affected >= 0.0.3, <= 1.97.0; fixed in 1.97.1 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go github.com/aws/amazon-ecs-agent: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on github.com/aws/amazon-ecs-agent. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-wm7x-ww72-r77q (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-wm7x-ww72-r77q lists affected ranges: Go github.com/aws/amazon-ecs-agent >=0.0.3 <=1.97.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
