File Browser is Vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) in Share Deletion Function
CVE-2025-64523GHSA-6cqf-cfhv-659g
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2 2.45.1), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Summary It has been found an Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) vulnerability in the FileBrowser application's share deletion functionality. This vulnerability allows any authenticated user with share permissions to delete other users' shared links without authorization checks. The impact is significant as malicious actors can disrupt business operations by systematically removing shared files and links. This leads to denial of service for legitimate users, potential data loss in collaborative environments, and breach of data confidentiality agreements. In organizational settings, this could affect critical file sharing for projects, presentations, or document collaboration. Details Technical Analysis The vulnerability exists in /http/share.go at lines 72-82. The shareDeleteHandler function processes deletion requests using only the share hash without comparing the link.UserID with the current authenticated user's ID (d.user.ID). This missing authorization check enables the…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2025-64523 Advisory: File Browser is Vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) in Share Deletion Function IDs: CVE-2025-64523, GHSA-6cqf-cfhv-659g Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2025-64523 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:14 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 7.2) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2 2.45.1. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2: affected < 2.45.1; fixed in 2.45.1 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-6cqf-cfhv-659g (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-6cqf-cfhv-659g lists affected ranges: Go github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2 >=0 <2.45.1) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
