Argo Workflow may expose artifact repository credentials
CVE-2025-62157GHSA-c2hv-4pfj-mm2r
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/argoproj/argo-workflows/v3 3.7.3, 3.6.12), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Summary An attacker who has permissions to read logs from pods in a namespace with Argo Workflow can read workflow-controller logs and get credentials to the artifact repository. Details An attacker, by reading the logs of the workflow controller pod, can access the artifact repository, and steal, delete or modify the data that resides there. The workflow-controller logs show the credentials in plaintext. <img width="1366" alt="screen" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/5642b2be-edcf-4050-bf47-747d05352698" / Impact An attacker with access to pod logs in the argo namespace can extract plaintext credentials from the workflow-controller logs and gain access to the artifact repository. This can lead to: - Data exfiltration – theft of sensitive or proprietary artifacts - Data tampering – modification of workflows or artifacts - Data destruction – deletion of stored artifacts, leading to potential loss of critical data or pipeline failure

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2025-62157 Advisory: Argo Workflow may expose artifact repository credentials IDs: CVE-2025-62157, GHSA-c2hv-4pfj-mm2r Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2025-62157 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:13 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 8.5) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/argoproj/argo-workflows/v3 3.7.3, 3.6.12. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go github.com/argoproj/argo-workflows/v3: affected >= 3.7.0, < 3.7.3; < 3.6.12; fixed in 3.6.12, 3.7.3 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go github.com/argoproj/argo-workflows/v3: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on github.com/argoproj/argo-workflows/v3. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-c2hv-4pfj-mm2r (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-c2hv-4pfj-mm2r lists affected ranges: Go github.com/argoproj/argo-workflows/v3 >=3.7.0 =0 <3.6.12) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
