Server-Side Request Forgery via /_image endpoint in Astro Cloudflare adapter

CVE-2025-58179GHSA-qpr4-c339-7vq8

What to do

Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (@astrojs/cloudflare 12.6.6), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

Summary When using Astro's Cloudflare adapter (@astrojs/cloudflare) configured with output: 'server' while using the default imageService: 'compile', the generated image optimization endpoint doesn't check the URLs it receives, allowing content from unauthorized third-party domains to be served. Details On-demand rendered sites built with Astro include an /image endpoint, which returns optimized versions of images. The /image endpoint is restricted to processing local images bundled with the site and also supports remote images from domains the site developer has manually authorized (using the image.domains or image.remotePatterns options). However, a bug in impacted versions of the @astrojs/cloudflare adapter for deployment on Cloudflare’s infrastructure, allows an attacker to bypass the third-party domain restrictions and serve any content from the vulnerable origin. PoC 1. Create a new minimal Astro project (astro@5.13.3) 2. Configure it to use the Cloudflare adapter…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2025-58179

Advisory: Server-Side Request Forgery via /_image endpoint in Astro Cloudflare adapter
IDs: CVE-2025-58179, GHSA-qpr4-c339-7vq8
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2025-58179 (revision 2, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 12:37 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: High (CVSS 7.2)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: @astrojs/cloudflare 12.6.6. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- npm @astrojs/cloudflare: affected >= 11.0.3, < 12.6.6; fixed in 12.6.6

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- `npm ls @astrojs/cloudflare --all`: lists every installed copy and version, including transitive ones. Run in the project root after `npm ci`.

## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on @astrojs/cloudflare.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
