CSVTOJSON has a prototype pollution vulnerability

CVE-2025-57350GHSA-vrw9-g62v-7fmf

What to do

Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (csvtojson 2.0.13), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.

This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

The csvtojson package, a tool for converting CSV data to JSON with customizable parsing capabilities, contains a prototype pollution vulnerability in versions prior to 2.0.10. This issue arises due to insufficient sanitization of nested header names during the parsing process in the parserjsonarray component. When processing CSV input containing specially crafted header fields that reference prototype chains (e.g., using proto syntax), the application may unintentionally modify properties of the base Object prototype. This vulnerability can lead to denial of service conditions or unexpected behavior in applications relying on unmodified prototype chains, particularly when untrusted CSV data is processed. The flaw does not require user interaction beyond providing a maliciously constructed CSV file.

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2025-57350

Advisory: CSVTOJSON has a prototype pollution vulnerability
IDs: CVE-2025-57350, GHSA-vrw9-g62v-7fmf
Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2025-57350 (revision 3, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 12:41 UTC)
Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected.
Severity: Medium (CVSS 6.9)
Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV.
Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: csvtojson 2.0.13. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.

## Affected components
- npm csvtojson: affected < 2.0.13; fixed in 2.0.13

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- `npm ls csvtojson --all`: lists every installed copy and version, including transitive ones. Run in the project root after `npm ci`.

## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on csvtojson.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
