nosurf vulnerable to CSRF due to non-functional same-origin request checks
CVE-2025-46721GHSA-w9hf-35q4-vcjw
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/justinas/nosurf 1.2.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Impact This vulnerability allows an attacker who controls content on the target site, or on a subdomain of the target site (either via XSS, or otherwise) to bypass Cross-Site Request Forgery checks and issue requests on user's behalf. Details Due to misuse of the Go net/http library, nosurf categorizes all incoming requests as plain-text HTTP requests, in which case the Referer header is not checked to have the same origin as the target webpage. If the attacker has control over HTML contents on either the target website (e.g. example.com), or on a website hosted on a subdomain of the target (e.g. attacker.example.com), they will also be able to manipulate cookies set for the target website. By acquiring the secret CSRF token from the cookie, or overriding the cookie with a new token known to the attacker, attacker.example.com is able to craft cross-site requests to example.com. Patches A patch for the issue was released in nosurf 1.2.0. Workarounds In lieu of upgrading to a patched…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2025-46721 Advisory: nosurf vulnerable to CSRF due to non-functional same-origin request checks IDs: CVE-2025-46721, GHSA-w9hf-35q4-vcjw Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2025-46721 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:09 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 6.0) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/justinas/nosurf 1.2.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go github.com/justinas/nosurf: affected < 1.2.0; fixed in 1.2.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go github.com/justinas/nosurf: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on github.com/justinas/nosurf. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-w9hf-35q4-vcjw (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-w9hf-35q4-vcjw lists affected ranges: Go github.com/justinas/nosurf >=0 <1.2.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
