Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) Allows Stored Cross Site Scripting (XSS) via malicious SVG Icon Upload
CVE-2025-46335GHSA-mwfg-948f-2cc5
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (mobsf 4.3.3), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Vulnerable MobSF Versions: <= v4.3.2 CVSS V4.0 Score: 8.6 (CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:P/VC:H/VI:H/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N) Details: A Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been identified in MobSF versions ≤ 4.3.2. The vulnerability arises from improper sanitization of user-supplied SVG files during the Android APK analysis workflow. When an Android Studio project contains a malicious SVG file as an app icon (e.g path, /app/src/main/res/mipmap-hdpi/iclauncher.svg), and the project is zipped and uploaded to MobSF, the tool processes and extracts the contents without validating or sanitizing the SVG. Upcon ZIP extraction this icon file is saved by MobSF to: user/.MobSF/downloads/<filename.svg This file becomes publicly accessible via the web interface at: http://127.0.0.1:8081/download/filename.svg If the SVG contains embedded JavaScript (e.g., an XSS payload), accessing this URL via a browser leads to the execution of the script in the context of the MobSF user session,…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2025-46335 Advisory: Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) Allows Stored Cross Site Scripting (XSS) via malicious SVG Icon Upload IDs: CVE-2025-46335, GHSA-mwfg-948f-2cc5 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2025-46335 (revision 3, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 13:32 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 6.9) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: mobsf 4.3.3. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - PyPI mobsf: affected <= 4.3.2; fixed in 4.3.3 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `python -m pip show mobsf`: prints the installed version. Run with the environment that serves production active. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on mobsf. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-mwfg-948f-2cc5 (OSV record GHSA-mwfg-948f-2cc5 lists affected ranges: PyPI mobsf >=0 <4.3.3 (fixed)) - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-mwfg-948f-2cc5 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-mwfg-948f-2cc5 lists affected ranges: PyPI mobsf >=0 <=4.3.2) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
