Argo Events users can gain privileged access to the host system and cluster with EventSource and Sensor CR
CVE-2025-32445GHSA-hmp7-x699-cvhq
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/argoproj/argo-events 1.9.6), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Summary: A user with permission to create/modify EventSource and Sensor custom resources can gain privileged access to the host system and cluster, even without having direct administrative privileges. Details: The EventSource and Sensor CRs allow the corresponding orchestrated pod to be customized with spec.template and spec.template.container (with type k8s.io/api/core/v1.Container), thus, any specification under container such as command, args, securityContext , volumeMount can be specified, and applied to the EventSource or Sensor pod due to the code logic below. With these, A user would be able to gain privileged access to the cluster host, if he/she specified the EventSource/Sensor CR with some particular properties under template. Here is an example that demonstrates the vulnerability. Impact: - Multi-tenant Clusters: - Tenant isolation broken - Non-admin users can gain host/cluster access - Access to other tenants' data - Security Model Bypass: - RBAC restrictions…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2025-32445 Advisory: Argo Events users can gain privileged access to the host system and cluster with EventSource and Sensor CR IDs: CVE-2025-32445, GHSA-hmp7-x699-cvhq Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2025-32445 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:09 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Critical (CVSS 9.9) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/argoproj/argo-events 1.9.6. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go github.com/argoproj/argo-events: affected < 1.9.6; fixed in 1.9.6 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go github.com/argoproj/argo-events: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on github.com/argoproj/argo-events. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-hmp7-x699-cvhq (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-hmp7-x699-cvhq lists affected ranges: Go github.com/argoproj/argo-events >=0 <1.9.6) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
