Server-Side Request Forgery via LNURL Authentication Callback in LNbits Lightning Network Payment System Disclaimer This vulnerability was detected using XBOW, a system that autonomously finds and exploits potential security vulnerabilities. The finding has been thoroughly reviewed and validated by a security researcher before submission. While XBOW is intended to work autonomously, during its development human experts ensure the accuracy and relevance of its reports. Description A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability has been discovered in LNbits' LNURL authentication handling functionality. The vulnerability exists in the LNURL authentication callback process where the application makes HTTP requests to user-provided callback URLs and follows redirects without proper validation. # Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2025-32013 Advisory: LNbits Lightning Network Payment System Vulnerable to Server-Side Request Forgery via LNURL Authentication Callback IDs: CVE-2025-32013, GHSA-qp8j-p87f-c8cc Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2025-32013 (revision 3, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 13:31 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Critical (CVSS 9.3) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor response not established. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - PyPI lnbits: affected <= 0.12.12 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `python -m pip show lnbits`: prints the installed version. Run with the environment that serves production active. ## Supported action No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on lnbits. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-qp8j-p87f-c8cc (OSV record GHSA-qp8j-p87f-c8cc lists affected ranges: PyPI lnbits >=0 <=0.12.12) - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-qp8j-p87f-c8cc (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-qp8j-p87f-c8cc lists affected ranges: PyPI lnbits >=0 <=0.12.12) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
