XWiki allows unregistered users to access private pages information through REST endpoint
CVE-2025-29925GHSA-22q5-9phm-744v
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-rest-server 16.10.0-rc-1, 16.4.6, 15.10.14), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Impact Protected pages are listed when requesting the REST endpoints /rest/wikis/[wikiName]/pages even if the user doesn't have view rights on them. It's particularly true if the entire wiki is protected with "Prevent unregistered user to view pages": the endpoint would still list the pages of the wiki (actually it only impacts the main wiki due to XWIKI-22639). Patches The problem has been patched in XWiki 15.10.14, 16.4.6, 16.10.0RC1. In those versions the endpoint can still be requested but the result is filtered out based on pages rights. Workarounds There's no workaround except upgrading or applying manually the changes of the commits (see references) in xwiki-platform-rest-server and recompiling / rebuilding it. # Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2025-29925 Advisory: XWiki allows unregistered users to access private pages information through REST endpoint IDs: CVE-2025-29925, GHSA-22q5-9phm-744v Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2025-29925 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 16:35 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 8.7) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-rest-server 16.10.0-rc-1, 16.4.6, 15.10.14. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Maven org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-rest-server: affected >= 1.9M1, < 15.10.14; >= 16.0.0-rc-1, < 16.4.6; >= 16.5.0-rc-1, < 16.10.0-rc-1; fixed in 16.10.0-rc-1, 15.10.14, 16.4.6 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Maven org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-rest-server: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-rest-server. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-22q5-9phm-744v (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-22q5-9phm-744v lists affected ranges: Maven org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-rest-server >=1.9M1 =16.0.0-rc-1 =16.5.0-rc-1 <16.10.0-rc-1) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
