Unwanted access to the entire file system vulnerability due to a missing check in staticFiles HTTP handler
CVE-2025-27098GHSA-j2wh-wrv3-4x4g
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (@graphql-mesh/cli 0.82.22; @graphql-mesh/http 0.3.19), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Summary Missing check vulnerability in the static file handler allows any client to access the files in the server's file system Details When staticFiles is set in the serve settings in the configuration file, the following handler doesn't check if absolutePath is still under the directory provided as staticFiles; Example scenario To reproduce it, set staticFiles to the relative path of a directory in .meshrc.yml; Then start the server with mesh dev, and browse to /..%2fpackage.json then you will see the content of package.json. You can even go deeper to see sensitive data; /..%2f..%2f..%2f..%2f..%2f..%2f..%2f..%2f..%2f..%2f..%2f..%2fetc/passwd Impact and solution If staticFiles is set under serve in the configuration file. you have two options to fix vulnerability; - Update @graphql-mesh/cli to a version higher than 0.82.21, and if you use @graphql-mesh/http, update it to a version higher than 0.3.18 - Remove staticFiles option from the configuration, and use other solutions to…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2025-27098 Advisory: Unwanted access to the entire file system vulnerability due to a missing check in `staticFiles` HTTP handler IDs: CVE-2025-27098, GHSA-j2wh-wrv3-4x4g Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2025-27098 (revision 2, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 12:36 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 5.8) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: @graphql-mesh/cli 0.82.22; @graphql-mesh/http 0.3.19. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - npm @graphql-mesh/cli: affected >= 0.78.0, < 0.82.22; fixed in 0.82.22 - npm @graphql-mesh/http: affected < 0.3.19; fixed in 0.3.19 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `npm ls @graphql-mesh/cli --all`: lists every installed copy and version, including transitive ones. Run in the project root after `npm ci`. - `npm ls @graphql-mesh/http --all`: lists every installed copy and version, including transitive ones. Run in the project root after `npm ci`. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on @graphql-mesh/cli, @graphql-mesh/http. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-j2wh-wrv3-4x4g (OSV record GHSA-j2wh-wrv3-4x4g lists affected ranges: npm @graphql-mesh/cli >=0.78.0 =0 <0.3.19 (fixed)) - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-j2wh-wrv3-4x4g (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-j2wh-wrv3-4x4g lists affected ranges: npm @graphql-mesh/cli >=0.78.0 =0 <0.3.19) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
