Snowflake.Data has weak temporary files permissions
CVE-2025-24788GHSA-2mqw-rq5m-8hc8
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (snowflake.data 4.3.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description

Issue Snowflake discovered and remediated a vulnerability in the Snowflake Connector for .NET in which files downloaded from stages are temporarily placed in a world-readable local directory, making them accessible to unauthorized users on the same machine. This vulnerability affects versions 2.0.12 through 4.2.0 on Linux and macOS. Snowflake fixed the issue in version 4.3.0. Vulnerability Details When downloading files from stages, the Snowflake Connector for .NET uses the OS temporary directory to save files before copying them to the destination directory. The files in the temporary directory, which are removed once the write to the destination directory concludes, have world-readable permissions on Linux and macOS. This could allow any user on the local machine to access them during their limited lifetime. Solution Snowflake released version 4.3.0 of the Snowflake Connector for .NET, which fixes this issue. We recommend users upgrade to version 4.3.0. Additional Information If…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2025-24788 Advisory: Snowflake.Data has weak temporary files permissions IDs: CVE-2025-24788, GHSA-2mqw-rq5m-8hc8 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2025-24788 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 17:03 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 5.0) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: snowflake.data 4.3.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - NuGet snowflake.data: affected >= 2.0.12, <= 4.2.0; fixed in 4.3.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - NuGet snowflake.data: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on snowflake.data. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-2mqw-rq5m-8hc8 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-2mqw-rq5m-8hc8 lists affected ranges: NuGet snowflake.data >=2.0.12 <=4.2.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
