Unauthenticated DOM Based XSS in YesWiki <= 4.4.5 Summary It is possible for any end-user to craft a DOM based XSS on all of YesWiki's pages which will be triggered when a user clicks on a malicious link. This Proof of Concept has been performed using the followings: - YesWiki v4.4.5 (doryphore-dev branch, latest) - Docker environnment (docker/docker-compose.yml) - Docker v27.5.0 - Default installation Details The vulnerability makes use of the search by tag feature. When a tag doesn't exist, the tag is reflected on the page and isn't properly sanitized on the server side which allows a malicious user to generate a link that will trigger an XSS on the client's side when clicked. This part of the code is managed by tools/tags/handlers/page/listpages.php, and this piece of code is responsible for the vulnerability: The tag names aren't properly sanitized when adding them to the page's response, thus when a tag name is user controlled, it allows client side code execution. # Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2025-24017 Advisory: Unauthenticated DOM Based XSS in YesWiki IDs: CVE-2025-24017, GHSA-wphc-5f2j-jhvg Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2025-24017 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 14:29 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 7.6) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: yeswiki/yeswiki 4.5.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Packagist yeswiki/yeswiki: affected <= 4.4.5; fixed in 4.5.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Packagist yeswiki/yeswiki: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on yeswiki/yeswiki. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-wphc-5f2j-jhvg (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-wphc-5f2j-jhvg lists affected ranges: Packagist yeswiki/yeswiki >=0 <=4.4.5) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
