JWK Set's HTTP client only overwrites and appends JWK to local cache during refresh
CVE-2025-22149GHSA-675f-rq2r-jw82
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/MicahParks/jwkset 0.6.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Impact The project's provided HTTP client's local JWK Set cache should do a full replacement when the goroutine refreshes the remote JWK Set. The current behavior is to overwrite or append. This is a security issue for use cases that utilize the provided auto-caching HTTP client and where key removal from a JWK Set is equivalent to revocation. Example attack scenario: 1. An attacker has stolen the private key for a key published in JWK Set. 2. The publishers of that JWK Set remove that key from the JWK Set. 3. Enough time has passed that the program using the auto-caching HTTP client found in github.com/MicahParks/jwkset v0.5.0-v0.5.21 has elapsed its HTTPClientStorageOptions.RefreshInterval duration, causing a refresh of the remote JWK Set. 4. The attacker is signing content (such as JWTs) with the stolen private key and the system has no other forms of revocation. Patches The affected auto-caching HTTP client was added in version v0.5.0 and fixed in v0.6.0. Upgrade to v0.6.0 or…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2025-22149 Advisory: JWK Set's HTTP client only overwrites and appends JWK to local cache during refresh IDs: CVE-2025-22149, GHSA-675f-rq2r-jw82 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2025-22149 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:08 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Low (CVSS 2.1) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/MicahParks/jwkset 0.6.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go github.com/MicahParks/jwkset: affected >= 0.5.0, <= 0.5.21; fixed in 0.6.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go github.com/MicahParks/jwkset: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on github.com/MicahParks/jwkset. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-675f-rq2r-jw82 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-675f-rq2r-jw82 lists affected ranges: Go github.com/MicahParks/jwkset >=0.5.0 <=0.5.21) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
