CVE-2024-49764GHSA-rmr4-x6c9-jc68
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (librenms/librenms 24.10.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Summary A Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the "Capture Debug Information" page allows authenticated users to inject arbitrary JavaScript through the "hostname" parameter when creating a new device. This vulnerability results in the execution of malicious code when the "Capture Debug Information" page is visited, redirecting the user and sending non-httponly cookies to an attacker-controlled domain. Details When creating a new device, an attacker can inject the following XSS payload into the "hostname" parameter: (Note: You may need to URL-encode the '+' sign in the payload.) The payload triggers automatically when visiting the "Capture Debug Information" page for the device, redirecting the user's browser to the attacker-controlled domain along with any non-httponly cookies. The vulnerability is due to insufficient sanitization of the "url" variable before it is output in the HTML. This is evident in the following lines of code:…

Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: librenms/librenms 24.10.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed.
## Affected components
- Packagist librenms/librenms: affected <= 24.9.1; fixed in 24.10.0
## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- Packagist librenms/librenms: check the installed version with your package manager.
## Supported action
Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version.
## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on librenms/librenms.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.
## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.
## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
