Devtron has SQL Injection in CreateUser API
CVE-2024-45794GHSA-q78v-cv36-8fxj
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (github.com/devtron-labs/devtron 0.7.2), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Summary An authenticated user (with minimum permission) could utilize and exploit SQL Injection to allow the execution of malicious SQL queries via CreateUser API (/orchestrator/user). Details The API is CreateUser (/orchestrator/user). The function to read user input is: https://github.com/devtron-labs/devtron/blob/4296366ae288f3a67f87e547d2b946acbcd2dd65/api/auth/user/UserRestHandler.go#L96-L104 The userInfo (line 104) parameter can be controlled by users. The SQL injection can happen in the code: https://github.com/devtron-labs/devtron/blob/4296366ae288f3a67f87e547d2b946acbcd2dd65/pkg/auth/user/repository/UserAuthRepository.go#L1038 The query (line 1038) parameter can be controlled by a user to create and execute a malicious SQL query. The user should be authenticated but only needs minimum permissions: PoC Demonstrate a blind SQL injection to retrieve the database name: The debugging breakpoint indicated that the malicious SQL query was executed: We can see that we can get the…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2024-45794 Advisory: Devtron has SQL Injection in CreateUser API IDs: CVE-2024-45794, GHSA-q78v-cv36-8fxj Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2024-45794 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 15:05 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 8.7) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: github.com/devtron-labs/devtron 0.7.2. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Go github.com/devtron-labs/devtron: affected < 0.7.2; fixed in 0.7.2 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Go github.com/devtron-labs/devtron: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on github.com/devtron-labs/devtron. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-q78v-cv36-8fxj (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-q78v-cv36-8fxj lists affected ranges: Go github.com/devtron-labs/devtron >=0 <0.7.2) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
