Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability exists in the gradio-app/gradio and was discovered in version 4.21.0, specifically within the /queue/join endpoint and the saveurltocache function. The vulnerability arises when the path value, obtained from the user and expected to be a URL, is used to make an HTTP request without sufficient validation checks. This flaw allows an attacker to send crafted requests that could lead to unauthorized access to the local network or the AWS metadata endpoint, thereby compromising the security of internal servers.

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2024-4325 Advisory: Server-Side Request Forgery in gradio IDs: CVE-2024-4325, GHSA-973g-55hp-3frw Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2024-4325 (revision 2, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 13:16 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 8.6) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor response not established. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - PyPI gradio: affected <= 4.36.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `python -m pip show gradio`: prints the installed version. Run with the environment that serves production active. ## Supported action No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on gradio. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-973g-55hp-3frw (OSV record GHSA-973g-55hp-3frw lists affected ranges: PyPI gradio >=0 <=4.36.0) - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-973g-55hp-3frw (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-973g-55hp-3frw lists affected ranges: PyPI gradio >=0 <=4.36.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
