Concrete CMS Stored Cross-site Scripting vulnerability
CVE-2024-2179GHSA-4m7h-34xm-4wjv
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (concrete5/concrete5 9.2.7), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Concrete CMS version 9 before 9.2.7 is vulnerable to Stored XSS via the Name field of a Group type since there is insufficient validation of administrator provided data for that field. A rogue administrator could inject malicious code into the Name field which might be executed when users visit the affected page. The Concrete CMS security team gave this vulnerability a CVSS v3.1 score of 2.2 with a vector of AV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N Concrete versions below 9 do not include group types so they are not affected by this vulnerability. Thanks Luca Fuda for reporting.

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2024-2179 Advisory: Concrete CMS Stored Cross-site Scripting vulnerability IDs: CVE-2024-2179, GHSA-4m7h-34xm-4wjv Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2024-2179 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 14:26 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Low (CVSS 2.2) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: concrete5/concrete5 9.2.7. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Packagist concrete5/concrete5: affected < 9.2.7; fixed in 9.2.7 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Packagist concrete5/concrete5: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on concrete5/concrete5. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-4m7h-34xm-4wjv (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-4m7h-34xm-4wjv lists affected ranges: Packagist concrete5/concrete5 >=0 <9.2.7) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
