Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
In h2oai/h2o-3 version 3.46.0.1, the runtool command exposes classes in the water.tools package through the ast parser. This includes the XGBoostLibExtractTool class, which can be exploited to shut down the server and write large files to arbitrary directories, leading to a denial of service.

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2024-10572 Advisory: H2O Vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS) and File Write IDs: CVE-2024-10572, GHSA-wjpv-64v2-2qpq Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2024-10572 (revision 2, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 13:35 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 7.5) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor response not established. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - PyPI h2o: affected >= 3.34.0.1, <= 3.46.0.1 - Maven ai.h2o:h2o-ext-xgboost: affected >= 3.34.0.1, <= 3.46.0.1 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - `python -m pip show h2o`: prints the installed version. Run with the environment that serves production active. - Maven ai.h2o:h2o-ext-xgboost: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on h2o, ai.h2o:h2o-ext-xgboost. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-wjpv-64v2-2qpq (OSV record GHSA-wjpv-64v2-2qpq lists affected ranges: PyPI h2o >=3.34.0.1 =3.34.0.1 <=3.46.0.1) - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-wjpv-64v2-2qpq (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-wjpv-64v2-2qpq lists affected ranges: PyPI h2o >=3.34.0.1 =3.34.0.1 <=3.46.0.1) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
