Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Impact It's possible to exploit well known parameters in XWiki URLs to perform redirection to untrusted site. This vulnerability was partially fixed in the past for XWiki 12.10.7 and 13.3RC1 but there is still the possibility to force specific URLs to skip some checks, e.g. using URLs like http:example.com in the parameter would allow the redirect. Patches The issue has now been patched against all patterns that we know about for performing redirect. It also performs a real URI parsing that should protect in most cases. This has been patched in XWiki 14.10.4 and 15.0. Workarounds The only workaround is to upgrade XWiki. # Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2023-32068 Advisory: org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-oldcore Open Redirect vulnerability IDs: CVE-2023-32068, GHSA-6gvj-8vc5-8v3j Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2023-32068 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 16:16 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 4.7) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-oldcore 14.10.4. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Maven org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-oldcore: affected < 14.10.4; fixed in 14.10.4 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Maven org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-oldcore: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-oldcore. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-6gvj-8vc5-8v3j (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-6gvj-8vc5-8v3j lists affected ranges: Maven org.xwiki.platform:xwiki-platform-oldcore >=0 <14.10.4) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
