Whole-script approval in Jenkins Script Security Plugin vulnerable to SHA-1 collisions
CVE-2022-45379GHSA-fv42-mx39-6fpw
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (org.jenkins-ci.plugins:script-security 1190.v65867a_a_47126), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Script Security Plugin 1189.vbab7c8fd5fde and earlier stores whole-script approvals as the SHA-1 hash of the approved script. SHA-1 no longer meets the security standards for producing a cryptographically secure message digest. Script Security Plugin 1190.v65867aa47126 uses SHA-512 for new whole-script approvals. Previously approved scripts will have their SHA-1 based whole-script approval replaced with a corresponding SHA-512 whole-script approval when the script is next used. Whole-script approval only stores the SHA-1 or SHA-512 hash, so it is not possible to migrate all previously approved scripts automatically on startup. Administrators concerned about SHA-1 collision attacks on the whole-script approval feature are able to revoke all previous (SHA-1) script approvals on the In-Process Script Approval page.

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2022-45379 Advisory: Whole-script approval in Jenkins Script Security Plugin vulnerable to SHA-1 collisions IDs: CVE-2022-45379, GHSA-fv42-mx39-6fpw Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2022-45379 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 16:24 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 8.0) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: org.jenkins-ci.plugins:script-security 1190.v65867a_a_47126. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Maven org.jenkins-ci.plugins:script-security: affected <= 1189.vb; fixed in 1190.v65867a_a_47126 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Maven org.jenkins-ci.plugins:script-security: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on org.jenkins-ci.plugins:script-security. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-fv42-mx39-6fpw (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-fv42-mx39-6fpw lists affected ranges: Maven org.jenkins-ci.plugins:script-security >=0 <=1189.vb) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
