Apache Isis webconsole module may directly query the database in prototype mode
CVE-2022-42467GHSA-998r-j9rx-qm8m
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (org.apache.isis.core:isis-core 2.0.0-M8), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
When running in prototype mode, the h2 webconsole module (accessible from the Prototype menu) is automatically made available with the ability to directly query the database. It was felt that it is safer to require the developer to explicitly enable this capability. As of 2.0.0-M8, this can now be done using the isis.prototyping.h2-console.web-allow-remote-access configuration property; the web console will be unavailable without setting this configuration. As an additional safeguard, the new isis.prototyping.h2-console.generate-random-web-admin-password configuration parameter (enabled by default) requires that the administrator use a randomly generated password to use the console. The password is printed to the log, as webAdminPass: xxx (where xxx) is the password. To revert to the original behaviour, the administrator would therefore need to set these configuration parameter: isis.prototyping.h2-console.web-allow-remote-access=true…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2022-42467 Advisory: Apache Isis webconsole module may directly query the database in prototype mode IDs: CVE-2022-42467, GHSA-998r-j9rx-qm8m Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2022-42467 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 16:30 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 6.9) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: org.apache.isis.core:isis-core 2.0.0-M8. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Maven org.apache.isis.core:isis-core: affected < 2.0.0-M8; fixed in 2.0.0-M8 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Maven org.apache.isis.core:isis-core: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on org.apache.isis.core:isis-core. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-998r-j9rx-qm8m (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-998r-j9rx-qm8m lists affected ranges: Maven org.apache.isis.core:isis-core >=0 <2.0.0-M8) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
