Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
DotCi Plugin 2.40.00 and earlier does not escape the GitHub user name parameter provided to commit notifications when displaying them in a build cause. This results in a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability exploitable by attackers able to submit crafted commit notifications to the /githook/ endpoint (see also SECURITY-2867). This vulnerability is only exploitable in Jenkins 2.314 and earlier, LTS 2.303.1 and earlier. See the LTS upgrade guide.

Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on com.groupon.jenkins-ci.plugins:DotCi. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-q9g4-9fx4-v533 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-q9g4-9fx4-v533 lists affected ranges: Maven com.groupon.jenkins-ci.plugins:DotCi >=0 <=2.40.00) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
