ReactPHP's HTTP server parses encoded cookie names so malicious __Host- and __Secure- cookies can be sent
CVE-2022-36032GHSA-w3w9-vrf5-8mx8
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (react/http 1.7.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Impact In ReactPHP's HTTP server component versions below v1.7.0, when ReactPHP is processing incoming HTTP cookie values, the cookie names are url-decoded. This may lead to cookies with prefixes like Host- and Secure- confused with cookies that decode to such prefix, thus leading to an attacker being able to forge cookie which is supposed to be secure. See also CVE-2020-7070 and CVE-2020-8184 for more information. Patches https://github.com/reactphp/http/commit/663c9a3b77b71463fa7fcb76a6676ffd16979dd6 - Fixed in reactphp/http v1.7.0 Workarounds Infrastructure or DevOps can place a reverse proxy in front of the ReactPHP HTTP server to filter out any unexpected Cookie request headers. # Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2022-36032 Advisory: ReactPHP's HTTP server parses encoded cookie names so malicious `__Host-` and `__Secure-` cookies can be sent IDs: CVE-2022-36032, GHSA-w3w9-vrf5-8mx8 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2022-36032 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 14:00 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: Medium (CVSS 5.3) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: react/http 1.7.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Packagist react/http: affected >= 0.7.0, < 1.7.0; fixed in 1.7.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Packagist react/http: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on react/http. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-w3w9-vrf5-8mx8 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-w3w9-vrf5-8mx8 lists affected ranges: Packagist react/http >=0.7.0 <1.7.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
