Improper Authentication in Jenkins Blue Ocean Plugin
CVE-2017-1000106GHSA-qgjq-m78x-4gm8
What to do
Vendor fix available. Upgrade each affected package to the fixed version on its release line (io.jenkins.blueocean:blueocean 1.2.0), redeploy, then verify what is actually installed.
This page has no inventory attached, so it cannot say whether you are affected. A vendor fix is not proof that your deployment is fixed.

Source description
As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.
Blue Ocean allows the creation of GitHub organization folders that are set up to scan a GitHub organization for repositories and branches containing a Jenkinsfile, and create corresponding pipelines in Jenkins. Its SCM content REST API supports the pipeline creation and editing feature in Blue Ocean. The SCM content REST API did not check the current user's authentication or credentials. If the GitHub organization folder was created via Blue Ocean, it retained a reference to its creator's GitHub credentials. This allowed users with read access to the GitHub organization folder to create arbitrary commits in the repositories inside the GitHub organization corresponding to the GitHub organization folder with the GitHub credentials of the creator of the organization folder. Additionally, users with read access to the GitHub organization folder could read arbitrary file contents from the repositories inside the GitHub organization corresponding to the GitHub organization folder if the…

# Patch Next advisory brief: CVE-2017-1000106 Advisory: Improper Authentication in Jenkins Blue Ocean Plugin IDs: CVE-2017-1000106, GHSA-qgjq-m78x-4gm8 Record: https://patchnext.com/advisories/cve-2017-1000106 (revision 1, source checked 26 Oct 2026, 16:02 UTC) Inventory: none attached. This brief comes from a public page and does not say whether any deployment is affected. Severity: High (CVSS 8.5) Exploitation: no confirmed exploitation recorded. Patch Next confirms exploitation only from CISA KEV. Vendor response: Vendor fix available; fixed versions by package: io.jenkins.blueocean:blueocean 1.2.0. A vendor fix does not mean a deployment is fixed. ## Affected components - Maven io.jenkins.blueocean:blueocean: affected < 1.2.0; fixed in 1.2.0 ## Suggested inspection (read-only) - Maven io.jenkins.blueocean:blueocean: check the installed version with your package manager. ## Supported action Upgrade each affected component to a fixed version on its release line. For a transitive dependency, upgrade the parent package or add an override or constraint, then regenerate the lockfile. Redeploy every environment that ran an affected version. ## Required regression checks - Run the test suite and a production build. - Exercise the features that depend on io.jenkins.blueocean:blueocean. - Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed. ## Rollback considerations - Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward. ## Unresolved questions - Which deployments run an affected version? - Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority. - Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production. ## Sources - Verified: https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-qgjq-m78x-4gm8 (GitHub-reviewed advisory GHSA-qgjq-m78x-4gm8 lists affected ranges: Maven io.jenkins.blueocean:blueocean >=0 <1.2.0) Commands are suggestions: review each one before running it.
