Source description

As published by the source; long descriptions are shortened.

fileopen in Tryton 3.x and 4.x through 4.2.2 allows remote authenticated users with certain permissions to read arbitrary files via a "same root name but with a suffix" attack. NOTE: This vulnerability exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2016-1242.

## Affected components
- PyPI trytond: affected >= 3.0.0, <= 3.0.17; >= 3.2.0, <= 3.2.17; >= 3.4.0, <= 3.4.17; >= 3.6.0, <= 3.6.16; >= 3.8.0, <= 3.8.14; >= 4.0.0, <= 4.0.9; >= 4.2.0, <= 4.2.2; fixed in 4.2.3

## Suggested inspection (read-only)
- `python -m pip show trytond`: prints the installed version. Run with the environment that serves production active.

## Supported action
No complete vendor fix is recorded. Follow the primary source's mitigation guidance and check this record again before closing anything.

## Required regression checks
- Run the test suite and a production build.
- Exercise the features that depend on trytond.
- Repeat the inspection and confirm that only fixed versions remain installed.

## Rollback considerations
- Keep the previous lockfile and deployment artifact. Rolling back reinstates the vulnerable version, so apply any documented mitigation while you fix forward.

## Unresolved questions
- Which deployments run an affected version?
- Exploitation status can change. Check again before lowering the priority.
- Mark the work resolved only after the fixed version is verified in production.
